Chase Terrace Technology College
We live in a fast changing world and the challenges and opportunities for our students in the future will be highly reliant on technology. Chase Terrace was designated as a specialist Technology College from September 2002. This designation is given by the Department for Education and Skills once certain criteria have been met. Chase Terrace meets the criteria and now receives additional funding to support work in Maths, Science, Technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This is a very important designation and means we can start to build upon strengths and improve the learning experience of our students. It also means that we have some very challenging targets to meet. The four core technology subjects are the basis for our designation as a Technology College but all subjects of the curriculum use technology to support and develop teaching and learning. The rebuilding and refurbishment of the school has meant that we have had a unique opportunity to provide modern equipment to underpin all areas of teaching, learning and management.
Examples of this include:
1)Interactive white boards in every classroom
2)A cashless canteen system
3)Electronic booking of library books
4)Daily notices via a distributed television network
5)A developing website to assist in dissemination of information and supporting learning
We have been able to express our unique character as a specialist Technology College and have ambitious plans to develop further over the next few years.
