Our core belief at Huxlow is that students will prosper best when they feel safe, are happy and well taught.
I was appointed in January 2014 with the ambition to ensure that every student leaves Huxlow with good exam results and, just as importantly, with the personal skills to succeed in the ever changing world. I want every student regardless of ability or background at Huxlow to be resilient, to think independently, to adapt well to change and to take responsibility for themselves.
Ofsted 2014 stated that:
By delivering on our core beliefs we enjoy strong examination success. The Summer of 2014 saw record Maths results and we are now in a position where students achieve very well across the curriculum. This is particularly so in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.
Outside of the classroom we offer a great deal of opportunity. We run a huge variety of trips including New York, Paris, The World War 1 Battlefields, The Peak District, The Clothes Show, various productions in London and Alton Towers to name but a few.
Huxlow also provides a rich diet of extra-curricular activities. Our sporting youngsters regularly achieve outstandingly, some examples are:- in football, we have had success in both the District Cup and County Cup for boys and girls; Huxlow have been district Rounders Champions and Indoor Rowing County Champions. We are also proud that our students participate in other sports including Netball, District Cross Country and Athletics.
Our “H” Factor is a well-loved annual event, as are our concerts and Carol Service giving students a number of opportunities to act, sing and dance to a public audience.
