This is a GOOD school ... a rising number of parents choose to send their children to Plumberow ... there is a strong family atmosphere and relationships between pupils and staff are excellent ...Plumberow still has the community spirit of a small school .. Ofsted Report March '14
Plumberow is a large primary with 647 pupils on roll. It is part of a cluster of four primaries in the Hockley/Hawkwell area and it is also linked to the Rayleigh cluster of schools. Plumberow Academy is adjacent to Greensward Academy and there is good liaison between the two establishments, with many benefits for our pupils.
Pupils are accommodated in the two main school buildings (Blue and White School) which are separated by the playground area. Classrooms are spacious and well resourced, in addition there is a large playing field, two halls and an outdoor swimming pool. The site and buildings are well maintained and provide a safe and attractive environment for both children and staff.
We have developed areas within the grounds, including a pond, a quiet area near the playground and a garden area. Plumberow expanded during 2000, with four additional classrooms, a library and a computer suite being completed. In keeping with the Primary philosophy, there are Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils in both buildings.
Plumberow Primary Academy is a key member of Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), the operational arm of the Greensward Charitable Trust, which is a federation of academies created to provide thousands of students/pupils with the best possible education.
AET aims to provide the opportunity for all young learners to fulfil their real potential, broaden their horizons and become active, prosperous and successful citizens in the world around them. AET believes that all young people deserve to become world class learners - to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment, with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up to date resources available to them.
AET is committed to doing everything it can to ensure that young people are able to, in the future, compete on the world stage with the skills, confidence and flair to generate new ideas, new initiatives and thereby make a full contribution to tomorrow's world.
