Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit an enthusiastic professional to lead on all educational activities (including Higher Education).
About the College
Capel Manor College is London's only dedicated College for Land Based Studies delivering Vocational Excellence in Horticulture, Garden Design, Animal Care, Saddlery, Arboriculture, Countryside, the Environment, Floristry and Balloon Artistry.
Description of duties
Reporting to the Chief Executive/Principal, the postholder will:
* Have authority to manage Capel Manor College's educational activities and be responsible for the quality control, monitoring and strategic issues associated with such activities (including Higher Education).
* Have cross college responsibility for the institution's self assessment process;
* Be responsible for quality control, monitoring, structure and strategy for educational activities
* Be the deputy for the Chief Executive/Principal in his/her absence or as directed and be a member of the College's Executive and Senior Management Team.
* On a regular basis to keep the Chief Executive Officer/Principal (CEO) informed of all matters relating to the management of the College.
* Deputise for the Chief Executive/Principal
* Attend all related committees
* To lead the College in all quality, inspection and validation issues and co-ordinate the Self Assessment Report and the process behind its construction.
* The postholder will be the college's Child Protection Officer
* Financial Management - Manage identified budgets and monitor delegated budgets
* The postholder will be the College's Data Protection Officer.
Experience / Qualifications
Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:
* Relevant degree, or professional accreditation, HND or equivalent
* Recognised teaching qualification
* A good understanding and practical experience of Management Information Systems (MIS), ILR and FE funding methodology (Knowledge of, and ability to, identify and access funding sources and to interpret and implement resource allocation methodology)
* Highly motivated, with a track record for setting high standards and sound attention to detail
* Ability to devise and implement creative solutions to complex issues
* Success in devising and delivering projects
* Demonstrable commitment to inclusive and comprehensive post-14 educational provision, incorporating strategic and operational management skills.
* Ability to achieve innovative solutions to challenges facing the college by effectively utalising the substantial budget available and monitoring the outcomes to inform future investment strategy
* Commitment to keeping up to date and to influence national and regional developments in learning and training
* Up to date knowledge of Ofsted and equivalent procedures for college inspection
* Outstanding written, oral and presentation skills and ability to prepare numerical and narrative reports and analysis; prioritising and managing time effectively to achieve targets and deadlines
* Excellent skills in using computers and management information systems, and the ability to contribute fully to development of systems and processes for reporting and recording.
* An understanding of and commitment to diversity and equality as it applies to college services and employment.
* A developed understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
It is desirable for candidates to posses:
* Professional qualification and/or relevant higher education qualification in education management (Aspiring Principals and Senior Leaders Programme or equivalent)
