Hairdressing Assessor. Our client, a Further Education College is looking to recruit a Hairdressing Assessor to co-ordinate a number of work based/apprentice learners, ensuring that they follow an approved learning programme in line with Learning & Skills Council contracts and North Warwickshire & Hinckley College. To assess/verify learners in a professional vocational area, deliver essential knowledge and additional support where necessary.

The College are recognised as a National Centre of Vocational Excellence for Leadership and Management, Construction, Hospitality and Catering.
The recent Ofsted inspection of the College graded the College as 'outstanding', which has now been coupled with QIA Beacon Status.
Description of duties
Reporting to the Training Manager, the main duties of the post will be:
* To interview applicants, undertake pre-induction assessment and explanation, and agree start dates;
* To set up placements, either with existing employers, or by seeking new placements. Checking health and safety policy and procedures and ensuring the placements hold the appropriate insurance;
* To provide the appropriate induction training for learners, including the initial assessment process and, in conjunction with the Marketing Co-ordinator, identify potential training needs in industry;
* To negotiate the full training programme with each learner, completing all relevant documentation in line with LSC contract requirements;
* To ensure that all learners are given a learning plan, which they have agreed and which details all aspects of their learning programme as identified in the LSC contract;
* To maintain close liaison with learners and employers, carry out formal reviews, agree action and negotiate changes within the learning programme;
* To assess/verify learners in line with Award Body criteria, ensuring that issues of equality of opportunity and anti-discrimination practice are fully addressed;
* To work in conjunction with the Training Manager to ensure that all learning sub-contractors comply with NWHC's service level agreements by continuously evaluating the effectiveness of the provision;
* To attend meetings and training sessions as requested by the Managers;
* To undertake any other duties within the spirit of the job description and commensurate with the grading of the post.
Experience / Qualifications
* The successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate the following:
* Competence to NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing or equivalent
* Hold or work towards TDLB D32 & D33 awards Assessor qualifications and, where necessary, D34 Verifier units/qualifications
* Up to date knowledge of the Hairdressing Industry
* A commitment to your own Continuous Professional Development in relation to Hairdressing
* Hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle
* Have excellent communication skills
* To be able to work as a team
* An understanding of 'safeguarding' and its importance within the college
* An understanding of Equal Opportunities and its importance at the College.

Hours/Benefits:
The working week is 37 hours per week - Fixed term until 26th February 2011
Annual holiday entitlement is 25 days, assuming a 5 day working week, (rising to 30 days after 4 years and 364 days service, this will be pro-rata depending on the month in which this length of service is reached.') plus 8 public holidays and up to 5 'closure' days September to August.
The post holder is eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
